Nelson Victor Tubbs, 84, died of natural causes Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown. One of the greatest Washington Redskins fans on Earth has gone home to his Heavenly Father.

Born April 13, 1927, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Clyde V. and Grace Tubbs.

He served his beloved country as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was active with Easter Seals and loved his pets, especially his dog, Bailey.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lydia Anne Tubbs; and four sons, Drew, Timothy, David and Daniel; five stepchildren, Michelle Sabine, Georgia McKinsey, Lisa Reed, Jean Lauman and George L. Sabine. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, Janay, Kristie, Jennifer, Ricky, Nick, Graham, Sam, Timothy Jr., Tina, Carly, Pamela, Stephanie, Adam, Jacob, Austin, Summer, Sarah, Bradley, Ryan and Brandon; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Jane; two sisters, Iva and Emma; one grandson, Tony N. Tubbs; and his only daughter, Pamela Gail Collins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740-6103.

A private celebration of life memorial will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011.
