HAGERSTOWN — One eastbound lane on Dual Highway was closed from Mount Aetna Road to Edgewood Drive on Friday morning through early afternoon. A spokesman for the Maryland State Highway Administration said that the lane is closed for milling and resurfacing.
The spokesman said two inches are being added to the base of the pavement.
According to the spokesman, the lane was to reopen at around 3 p.m.
The work is part of a long-term project to expand the Dual Highway-Edgewood Drive intersection and provide curb lanes and sidewalks for bicycles and pedestrians. The Maryland State Highway Administration’s website says the project will cost approximately $5 million. Funding for it began in 2009.
Pessoa Construction has been contracted to work on the project.
