HAGERSTOWN — One lane of West Washington Street between Jonathan Street and South Potomac Street in downtown Hagerstown was closed Thursday morning for road repair work.

As a result, traffic has backed up as far as Walnut Street at times.

Bob Bond, who works for Henson & Son, said the first block of West Washington Street has to be patched up following the recent installation of a Columbia Gas main.

Henson & Son has been contracted to work on patching up streets in the Hagerstown area where gas mains were installed.

Bond said the lane should reopen by Thursday afternoon. Workers will then have to patch up part of the sidewalk on that block.
