SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Plum, an independently owned jewelry store, has expanded and will be opening its new location soon at 108 E. German St. in downtown Shepherdstown.

During its grand-opening party Saturday, June 18, from 6 to 9 p.m., the new location will be formally showcased to the public for the first time. Owners Cari Aliveto Rosen and David Rosen, and many of the artists whose work is featured at Plum, will be on-site during the event, which will offer music, drinks and sweets.

Plum is a jewelry store that features items including custom silver jewelry by Cari Aliveto Rosen, other types of handcrafted jewelry, T-shirts, handmade hair accessories and many more "plum" finds, all created primarily by local artists and craftspeople.

Plum is a growing business, but still remains a family affair with digitally enhanced photography done by David Rosen.

Silver work and jewelry making used to be a hobby for Cari Aliveto Rosen, who was an elementary school teacher for seven years. She will be using her teaching skills at Plum's new location by offering free beginner jewelry-making classes to promote other classes being offered later in the year.
