Md. Poultry Swap, Farmers Market scheduled June 18

SHARPSBURG — The Maryland Poultry Swap and Farmers Market will be Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Green Hill Farm, 5329 Mondell Road in Sharpsburg.  

Follow the signs through the town of Sharpsburg to Green Hill Farm, where area farmers will be setting up tables and displays to offer their products and services to the community.  

The large sales area will have laying hens, baby chicks, turkeys, peacocks, exotic birds, geese, ducks, rabbits, goats as well as flowers, horse tack, local honey, used equipment and tools and just about anything farm related.   

Food and beverage vendors will be onsite, as well as plenty of fun activities for the family, such as a straw maze, inflatable bounce and pony rides.  

Admission and parking will be free. The community is invited to come and participate as a vendor or show up and see what’s for sale.  

Vendor spaces cost $8 and will automatically enter participants in the door prize giveaways to be handed out all day.   

Along with the sales area, there will be a show clinic designed to teach poultry exhibition basics.

APA licensed judge Paul Gilroy will be on hand to lend his support and knowledge.  Prizes for the winners will be announced at 3 p.m. There will also be a coop tour featuring chicken coops of all kinds from area craftsmen.  

All animals will be tested per state regulations, but quarantining new pets is always recommended.
