Mrs. Catherine C. “Katie” (Kane) O’Kelly, 91, of 13580 Summit Ave., Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., passed away at 11:54 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital.

Born April 17, 1920, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late James J. and Catherine (McCabe) Kane. She lived in Baltimore before moving to Blue Ridge Summit when she was 4 months old, where she was raised by John and Ida Gearhart.

Mrs. O’Kelly attended Monterey School in early years, later graduating from Shippensburg High School with the class of 1939. She later graduated as a registered nurse from Church Home and Hospital in Baltimore with the class of 1942.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Raymond M. O’Kelly Sr., were married March 19, 1943, in Lauraville Methodist Church, Baltimore. They moved to their present residence in 1981. Mr. O’Kelly passed away April 14, 2000.

Mrs. O’Kelly was employed as instructor of nursing with Church Home and Hospital following her graduation. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed as a registered nurse for 30 years at a number of Veterans Administration locations including, Perry Point VA Hospital.

She attended Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, and was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 027, Havre de Grace, Md.

She is survived by her two sons, Raymond M. O’Kelly Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Midlothian, Va., and Patrick M. O’Kelly of Charlottesville, Va.; and grandchildren, Jennifer Dickson and her husband, Zack, of Charlotte, N.C. and Michael O’Kelly, also of Charlotte; a devoted sister-in-law, Mary Ruth O’Kelly Elseroad of Frederick, Md.; nieces, Pam Chlad of Collegeville, Pa., Cassie Andrzjewski and her husband, Dave, of Parkton, Md.; and two great-nephews, D.J. Andrzjewski of New York City, N.Y., and Craig Andrzjewski of Stamford, Conn.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, 14753 Charmain Road, Blue Ridge Summit, with the Rev. William H. Hammann officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade, Md.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
