MARLOWE, W.Va. — Northbound Interstate 81 at Exit 23 (U.S. 11/Marlowe-Falling Waters) was closed for about an hour following a tractor-trailer crash Monday morning, according to Berkeley County Emergency Services.
The accident took place at 3:30 a.m., according to an Emergency Services operator. West Virginia Department of Highways officials closed the highway at about 5:30 a.m. while crews could get the damaged vehicle off the road, he said.
The scene was cleared and the highway reopened by about 6:30 a.m.
The accident took place near the bridge over U.S. 11. Lanes have been shifted and concrete barriers are in place in that area while construction of a new bridge continues.
