The Community Foundation of Washington County has awarded the third annual Christine Ecker Memorial Scholarship to Imani Carter of North Hagerstown High School.

The scholarship was established by Christine's parents to benefit participants in cheerleading programs at North High who plan to pursue a career in early childhood development or education.

These goals reflect goals Christine held before her death in May 2008.

Imani plans to attend the University of Maryland at College Park to pursue a career in clinical psychology.

She hopes to work with children with special needs.

Imani is the daughter of Rhonda and Adam Carter.

To make a contribution to this fund, or to find out how to create a scholarship fund, contact the Community Foundation of Washington County at 301-745-5210.
