BURLINGTON, Vt. — The following area students graduated May 22 from the University of Vermont:

  • Paul B. Heft of Frederick, Md., received a bachelor of science degree in English.
  • Courtney L. DeHaan of Hagerstown received a master of science degree in nutrition and food sciences.
  • Lindsay M. Williams of Mount Airy, Md., received a bachelor of science degree in microbiology.


 HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Technological University honored the achievements of nearly 1,000 graduates April 30 at spring commencement.

Among the honorees was John Maass of Keedysville, who earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry.



 LEWISBURG, Pa. — Caitlin M. Humphrey of Hagers-town graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in business administration in management from Bucknell University on May 22.  

She is a member of Delta Mu Delta national business administration honor society.

She is a 2007 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

She is the daughter of Timothy and Laura Humphrey of Hagerstown.

 

Gabriel Walker Massie Lane, son of Douglas and Rebecca Massie Lane of Hagerstown, graduated magna cum laude May 22 from Middlebury College in Vermont. He received high honors in biology.



CONWAY, S.C. — Emily A. Kern of Boonsboro was named to the president's list for the spring semeser at Coastal Carolina University.

To qualify for the president's list, students must earn a 4.0 grade-point average.

All students on the list must be enrolled full time.


CLAREMONT, Calif. — Julia Markowitz Diaz of Knoxville, Md., was one of 177 graduates from Harvey Mudd College, Claremont,  during the 53rd commencement held May 15.

Diaz earned a bachelor of science degree and honors in humanities, social sciences and the arts.

Diaz attended Brunswick (Md.) High School.
