HAGERSTOWN — A 53-year-old Hagerstown man has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter after police found a person he lived with dead of apparent stab wounds in their West Franklin Street apartment Friday morning, the Hagerstown Police Department said in a press release.

Darrell Lee Hicks, of 211 W. Franklin St., apartment 3, was being held at Washington County Detention Center without bond Saturday, according to a booking officer there.

Police are not releasing the identity of the dead person.

Officers were dispatched to Hicks’ apartment at 9:01 a.m. Friday regarding a suspicious death, and, upon arrival, found Hicks inside and a dead person in a bedroom in the apartment, the press release said.

Investigators were called to the scene.

Investigators confirmed the dead person had multiple stab wounds and determined that Hicks and the dead person lived in the apartment together.
