CLEAR SPRING — A woman and a 2-year old child were taken to Meritus Medical Center after a car flipped over on westbound Interstate 70, Trooper First Class Bittinger of the Maryland State Police said.
The accident happened between the Greencastle Pike (Md. 63) and Clear Spring exits on I-70.
Bittinger says he was notified of the wreck at 9:11 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 9:15.
The woman and the child were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures at 9:50 a.m., according to Bittinger.
Bittinger said that a man was also in the car.
In addition to the Maryland State Police, two fire engines from Williamsport and one from Clear Spring were on the scene. An ambulance from Clear Spring also responded.
The fire engines and ambulance cleared the scene at 9:50 a.m. and a tow truck arrived to tow the car away at 9:53.
One lane of I-70 was closed immediately after the accident. Westbound traffic was moving slowly for about two miles before the lane reopened just before 10 a.m.
