Movie night is back at the recreation center

The Memorial Recreation Center wishes to thank the Washington County Free Library for support for its outdoor movie series this summer.  

The first movie will be shown Saturday, June 11, at 8:30 p.m. at the MRC parking lot. It will be sponsored by West Side Church.  

Please note that children 10 and younger must be accompanied by a person 16 or older. (An adult is preferred.)

So get that lawn chair or a blanket ready to bring, and enjoy a movie under the stars.  

Other movie dates scheduled are July 9 and August 13. Sponsors are needed! If you are interested in sponsoring a movie night for families to enjoy, the cost is $150.

Second Christian Church plans Saturday dinner

Come out and support the Second Christian Church, 65 W. North Ave., at its dinner on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The menu includes fried chicken or fried fish with your choice of potato salad, green beans or macaroni and cheese, cake or pie, accompanied by rolls and soda

The donation for this scrumptious meal is $8.

Emmanuel church to host community movie night

This Saturday, a community movie night will be held on the church lawn of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave.

Games, free food and special music by Prevenient Grace from Washington Square United Methodist Church are planned.

The activities will begin at 6 p.m. The band will start at 7 p.m.

The public is invited.


Churches schedule vacation Bible school

A vacation Bible school hosted by St. Andrews United Methodist Church and Emmanuel United Methodist Church will be held at St. Andrews, 1020 Maryland Ave., June 12-16 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The theme this year is "Shake It Up Cafe: Where Kids Carry Out God's Recipe."

Classes are being held for ages 4 through adult with music, recreation, crafts and storytelling. There will be Bible study and snacks each night.

All are welcome, so join in the fun and really shake up the  community for God!
