Tri-State area students graduate from Juniata College

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The following local students were awarded degrees May 14 at Juniata College’s commencement.

• Sara Marie Bean of Greencastle, Pa., graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in communication with art and design.

Bean wrote an honors thesis in conjunction with her Juniata College marketing internship, and won first place in the college’s annual student art exhibition.

Bean is a 2007 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

• Caroline Ann Binder of McConnellsburg, Pa., graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in theater arts with secondary emphases in history and French.

Binder was a member of SAA, Contact Improv Club and Social Dancing Club, and participated in Juniata Theatre shows as an actor and costume assistant.

Binder is a 2007 graduate of McConnellsburg High School.

• Lauren Nicole Cline of Frederick, Md., graduated with a bachelor of science degree in human communication and behavior.

Cline was a member of the women’s volleyball team from 2007 to 2009, a Liberal Arts Symposium finalist and wrote a children’s book titled “Kangaroo Jack.”

Cline is a 2007 graduate of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

• Lauren Elizabeth Dovey of Mercersburg, Pa., graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish-Hispanic cultures with secondary emphasis in French and English.

Dovey was a member of the English and international honor societies, studied abroad in Seville, Spain, in 2009 and 2010, and made the dean’s list.

Dovey is a 2007 graduate of James Buchanan High School.

• Brandi Jo Flood of Fayetteville, Pa., graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in international business with a secondary emphasis in German.

Flood studied abroad in Marburg, Germany, and was inducted last fall into Sigma Iota Rho, the national honor society for international studies.  

Flood is a 2007 graduate of Chambersburg (Pa.) Area Senior High School.

• Adam Thomas Ludy of Greencastle, Pa., graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in management.

Ludy was a member of the football team for four years.

Ludy is a 2007 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

• Erin Lee McVicar of Charles Town, W.Va., graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

McVicar received the John Stauffer Scholarship, toured internationally with the Juniata Concert Choir, completed research in psychology under Anne Gilman, and studied abroad in Athens, Greece, in fall 2008.

McVicar is a 2007 graduate of Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
