June 01, 2011

WILLIAMSPORT — A truck caught fire Wednesday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 70, just east of the Greencastle Pike exit (Exit 24) near Williamsport, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services reported.

The supervisor said nobody was hurt.

The supervisor said the fire was put out at 12:49 p.m. By shortly after 1 p.m., the highway was clear and traffic was moving freely.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department reported that I-70 eastbound was briefly shut down so the fire could be put out.

The Clear Spring Fire Department and the Williamsport Fire Department were both on the scene, according to the supervisor.

The Sheriff's Department says it received the call at 12:05.
