Soroptimist International of Hagerstown honored three local people at its spring awards ceremony:
- Kristen Resh received the Violet Richardson Award, which honors girls who donate their time and energy through volunteer service. A $250 check was presented to the charity of Resh's choice. She also received a $500 check to continue her education.
- Ann Weaver received the Women's Opportunity Award for overcoming obstacles in her quest for a better life. A $1,000 check was presented to Weaver to help her with education and skills training.
- Robin Roberson of the Community Free Clinic of Washington County received the Ruby Award for improving the lives of women and girls through her personal and professional activities. A $500 check was presented in her name to the clinic.
Soroptimist International is a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Philadelphia. It offers programs that improve the lives of women and girls through social and economic empowerment.
