Robert Norman Hoke, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown.
Born Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John George Hoke and the late Edna Bell Insminger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma May Hoke, in 2004.
He retired from the Washington County Highway Department.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Paramount Church of the Brethren and Moose Lodge 212.
He is survived by a son, Edward Allan Hoke; two stepdaughters, Pearl Williams and Thelma J. Banzhoff; four stepsons, John Wolfe, Elmer L. Dagenhart, George W. Burral Jr. and David W. Burral; two sisters, Catherine Grove and Mary Jane McCauley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Shirley A. Kroboth; sisters, Eloise and Marie; and brothers, John Jr., Eugene, Ralph and John R.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. James R. Stauffer officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
