Sharpless W. Crowe III, 65

Sharpless W. Crowe III, 65, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

Born Thursday, Nov. 1, 1945, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Sharpless W. Crowe Jr. and Pauline L. "Billie" Kreller Crowe.

He graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1963 and later attended Elizabethtown College. He was employed by Geico Insurance and Acumenics Research & Technology in Bethesda, Md., and most recently by Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and later with the Air National Guard in Martinsburg, W.Va., serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a member of Myersville (Md.) Lions Club, Funkstown American Legion Post 211 and the AMVETS Post in Middletown, Md.

He is survived by his daughter, Jenny C. Earley of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Thomas A. Crowe of Youngstown, Ohio;  two grandchildren, Jonathan Crowe of Frederick, and Noah Earley of Hagerstown; and a special friend, Patricia Crowe of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary W. Crowe.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
