A 22-year-old man who hanged himself with a sheet Monday in the Washington County Detention Center died Tuesday morning at Meritus Medical Center, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.
Brayan Alejandro Mora-Castro, 22, was taken to Meritus Medical Center after deputies found him at about 4:30 p.m. hanging from a sheet that was attached to a sprinkler head in his cell, according to a sheriff's office press release.
The release said Mora-Castro didn't come out of his cell for dinner and was in his cell for about 30 minutes until deputies made their security rounds.
Mora-Castro was taken down and given CPR, deputies said. Mora-Castro then was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where he died this morning.
Mora-Castro was arrested by the Hagerstown Police Department on May 20 and charged with false imprisonment and second-degree assault, the sheriff's office said.
He also was being held on a detainer on behalf of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. His bond was set at $35,000, the release said.
