Mrs. Edith Mae Fritz, 87, formerly of 346 S. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa., died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Falling Spring Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
She had resided at the home for the past six years.
Born Sept. 15, 1923, at Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Seth and Edna Mae Brindle Smith.
She was employed at Fairchild Industries of Hagerstown, Md., for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1985. She also was employed as a cafeteria worker by the Tuscarora School District and was a former Avon representative.
Mrs. Fritz was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mercersburg, where she was church treasurer for 21 years, a member of the Altar Guild and a former Deacon.
Her husband, Paul Franklin Fritz, died Aug. 23, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol A. (Mrs. Angelo) Conti of Staten Island, N.Y., and Debra L. (Mrs. Thomas) Swope of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Alfredo P. Conti, Angela A. Conti and Shawn R. Buhrman; two great-granddaughters, Sonia and Alicia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Sheffield, and a brother, Charles Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 at Trinity UCC of Mercersburg, with the Rev. Matthew Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
