Members of Friendship Masonic Lodge 84 of Hagerstown provided the child identification program known as MdCHIP to 138 children Saturday at the 20th annual Kids Alive Fest at Children’s Village of Washington County.

The MdCHIP program is provided free by Masons, who take digital photographs, video, fingerprints, vital child information and an oral swab for DNA.

The photographs, video, fingerprints and child data are put on a CD compatible with the Amber Alert system and given to the child’s parent or guardian, providing a time-sensitive recovery tool for authorities.

The McCHIP program was sponsored by the Gaye McGovern Insurance Agency Inc. of State Farm Insurance Cos.

For more information about MdCHIP or future MdCHIP events, send an email to Regional Coordinator Patty Shirley at coopersmom@myactv.net.
