Baer leads G-A School Board race

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A major upset occurred on the Greencastle-Antrim School Board as longtime board member Howard Ritchey was ousted on both the Republican and Democratic ticket in Tuesday’s primary election.

Newcomer Tracy Baer got off to a quick start on Tuesday and kept pace all evening ending as the top vote-getter with seven of seven precincts reporting followed by Eric Holtzman, Ken Haines, Michael Still and Melinda Cordell.  

Nine candidates — including four incumbents and five newcomers — are running for five seats on school board.

On the Democratic ballot, Baer was the early front runner, but all the candidates were neck in neck with four of seven precincts reporting.

While all the candidates are running for four-year terms on the nine-member school board. The top five vote-getters in the Democratic and Republican primaries will advance to the Nov. 8 general election.

All the candidates crossfiled, Politis and Schwartz are registered Democrats and Still is an independent candidate. All the other candidates are registered Republicans.
