150 Washington County students compete in 24 Game

Nearly 150 students from Washington County competed in the annual 24 Game math challenge May 5 at Hagerstown Community College.

In the game, students are shown a card with four numbers and they must be the first to use subtraction, addition, multiplication and division to figure out a combination of those numbers that equals 24.

The fifth-grade winner was Colton Bare of Sharpsburg Elementary School. The other fifth-grade finalists were Claudia Tolley, Sharpsburg Elementary School, second place; Bryce Palamar, Old Forge Elementary School, third place; and Rachael Cochran, Sharpsburg Elementary School, fourth place.

The sixth-grade winner was Jerel Parker of Northern Middle School. The other sixth-grade finalists were Grace Miller, Smithsburg Middle School, second place; Jacob Cowan, Boonsboro Middle School, third place; and Gunnie Margrabe, Boonsboro Middle School, fourth place.
