Six Heritage Academy students get high marks in statewide writing contest

Each year, Heritage Academy students participate in a creative-writing contest sponsored by the Association of Christian Schools International.

At the district level, six students received a rating of superior allowing them to compete in the regional competition.

Two seventh-graders, Hannah Graff and Hannah Muller, received superior ratings at the regional level. Graff entered a rhymed poem, “My Master’s Canvas.” Muller’s free-verse poem was titled “My Day with the Sun.”

Sophomore Tristan Prejean received an excellent rating in the high school division for his poem “Kicking a Ball.”

In the junior-high age group, Jacob Barr received a score of excellent for his rhymed poem “Rubberbands.” Ian Rohrbaugh also received an excellent for his entry “Road Kill.”

Mackenzie Householder, who is in fourth grade, was awarded a rating of excellent in the elementary-level competition for her short story “Neeko.”
