Two hurt in crash on Twin Springs Drive at Little Antietam Road

CHEWSVILLE — Two people were taken to the hospital after a van headed northbound on Little Antietam collided with a truck turning left onto Twin Springs Drive, Deputy Enders of the Washington County Sheriff's Department is reporting.

Enders was notified of the wreck at 8:01 a.m. After arriving at the scene, he closed off Twin Springs Drive and one lane of Little Antietam at the intersection.

The roads were reopened at 8:52 a.m.

The van had a woman and her son in it, and the woman was taken to Meritus Medical Center at 8:30 a.m. with minor injuries, according to Enders. He said the son was OK, however.

Enders said the truck only had one occupant and she was also taken to Meritus Medical Center at 8:30. The extent of her injuries are unknown.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department, the Leitersburg and Smithsburg Fire departments, and two ambulances from the Hagerstown Community Rescue Service were on the scene.

A tow truck arrived at 8:41 a.m. and towed the truck away at 8:50. The van, however, was left on the scene off to the side for the owner to pick up later.
