CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The sole survivor of a fatal crash Saturday near Chambersburg, Pa., was in serious condition Sunday.

Chelsi Marie Yurko, 19, of Shippensburg, Pa., was in serious condition Sunday at York (Pa.) Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Yurko was flown to York on Saturday, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

The early morning crash that happened in Guilford Township claimed the lives of two men, police said.

Michael E. Sheaffer Jr., 24, and Christopher M. Schuchman, 21, both of Fayetteville, Pa., were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

The 2002 Nissan Sentra in which the three were riding was eastbound on Spring Road near Wilkinson Lane about 2 a.m. when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, the state police release said.

The vehicle crossed over the westbound lane, then went off the road and struck several trees, the release said.
All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle, the release said. It appeared that none of the occupants was wearing seat belts, the release said.

It had yet to be determined who was driving the vehicle, the release said.

No additional information was available Sunday from police.
