Bonnie Jeanne Amalfitano, 49, of 13508 Olde Saybrook Circle in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born Friday, July 7, 1961, in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of Irene Smith Berger of Delray Beach, Fla., and the late Nathan Berger.

She graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1983 with a degree in industrial psychology. She was a member of the Congregation of B'nai Abraham, where she was involved in events relating to children. She was a member of various Parent Teacher Associations, North Hagerstown High School Athletic Boosters and an unofficial committee member whenever she was needed.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Thomas G. Amalfitano; three daughters, Rachel J. Amalfitano, Rebecca L. Amalfitano and Sarah N. Amalfitano; one son, Matthew W. Amalfitano, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Robin Berger of New York, N.Y.; and a brother, Jay Berger of Bedford, N.Y.

Services will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with Rabbi Fred Raskind officiating. Private family interment will follow in the B'nai Abraham Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
