Sidewalk upgrade added to bus transfer center

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners Tuesday approved a $125,277.03 change for additional sidewalk improvements in the construction contract for the county's transit bus transfer center.

The addition of sidewalks along the Wareham Place alley will provide a safe route for access to the new transit center, a report on the change said.

The transit center project is being funded with federal money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The change order was approved contingent upon approval and funding by the Maryland Transit Administration.

It also included a 62-day time extension for the project.

The total cost for the acquisitions was $24,450.

The properties are located at 19330, 19325, 19420 and 19333 Longmeadow Road and 13402 Marsh Pike.
