On Saturday, Second Christian Church, at 65 W. North Ave., will hold its Women' Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The menu includes fried chicken or fried fish with potato salad or macaroni and cheese, green beans or baked beans or you can choose turkey salad/lettuce, deviled eggs, potato chips and pickles. Each dinner comes with roll, soda, cake or pie.
The dinner costs $8.
Christian comedy night
Zion Baptist Church, at 61 W. Bethel St. in Hagerstown, will host a Christian comedy night Saturday, May 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. with gospel leader Keitha Vanessa Johnson, also known as Keitha V.
She has performed nationally and internationally. Most recently, Keitha V opened for Richard Smallwood at Delta Sigma Theta National Convention's Gospel Fest.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for those ages 7 to 18. Tickets can be ordered online at www.zbc61.org. Please note, there is a $2.50 processing fee for tickets purchased online. Online tickets can be picked up at the "will call" the night of the event.

Smoke-free event
This year's theme for World No Tobacco Day is "Smoke Free Community Night" and is sponsored by Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance.
The event will take place Wednesday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gym at Martin Luther King Center, 131 W. North Ave. in Hagerstown.
Activities will include live music, entertainment, giveaways and prize drawings.

Movie night
The next movie night at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St., will feature "Yogi Bear" with the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake.
The movie will be shown Saturday, May 14, at 7 p.m. Free popcorn and drinks will be available while supplies last.
Dance recital
On Saturday, May 21, Ballet and All That Jazz dancers will perform at the 2 p.m. show at The Maryland Theatre on South Potomac Street.

South High Alumni to meet
The next meeting of the South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will be Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the school's media center.
On the agenda: 2011 scholarship recipients, golf tournament (June 23) and Mega Reunion (June 25.)

Relay for Life
The annual Relay for Life of Washington County is scheduled for June 17 and 18 at Fairgrounds Park. Opening ceremonies will be Friday, June 17 at 6 p.m. Closing ceremonies are set for Saturday, June 18, at 7 a.m.
There will be lots of activities and entertainment for children and adults.
This year holds a special significance as this Relay for Life event has been selected as the only site in the state to host the Cancer Prevention Study enrollment. The study tracks participants for a period of approximately 20 years. Similar studies in the past have linked the effects of smoking to lung cancer, among other things.
Anyone can participate in Relay for Life. The only requirement to participate is the $10 registration/commitment fee (per person) that is due upon registration. After that, anything you can raise through individual, team or online fundraising will be accepted.

Book fair
Western Heights Middle School students will meet with their parents (or other adult family member) Wednesday, May 11, during Student-Led Conferences at the school, , at 1300 Marshall St. in Hagerstown. These parent-student meetings allow the student to showcase their educational progress for the year. Following the meetings, light refreshments will be served.
While at the school, family members are invited to spend a little more time with their students during the school's eighth annual buy-one, get-one free book fair, which began Thursday. Sponsored by the school's PTSA, the book fair is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through May 12 in the school's media center.
