CHAMBERSBURG, PA. — The Cumberland Valley School of Music will present the CVSM Awards Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College, Chambersburg.
The recital will feature the winners of CVSM's merit scholarship competition; graduating seniors who are going on to pursue careers in music; and the winners of this year's Benjamin Rhine Scholarship.
Merit Awards winners this year are:
Vocal awards
First place: Katarina Johansson, daughter of Elizabeth Johansson, Chambersburg, Pa.
Second place: Marina Addlesberger, daughter of James and Mary Addlesberger, Chambersburg, Pa.
Honorable mention: Shannon Quinn, daughter of Randy and Marianne Quinn, Saint Thomas, Pa.
Piano awards
First place: McQuire Allen-Hall, daughter of Sanda and Michael Allen-Hall, Chambersburg, Pa.
Second place: Paul Lessard, son of Randy and Jean Lessard, Chambersburg, Pa.
Third place: Rebekah Duvall, daughter of Paul and Anne Duvall, Greencastle, Pa.
Instrumental awards
First place, Monica Miller (violin), daughter of Ray and Ginny Miller, Greencastle, Pa.
Second place: Grantley Showalter (cello), son of Ruth and Linden Showalter, Waynesboro, Pa.
Third place: Paul Lessard (saxophone), son of Randy and Jean Lessard, Chambersburg, Pa.
Also performing today will be the winner of this year's Benjamin A. Rhine Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a CVSM student who is studying and displaying aptitude on multiple instruments. This year's winner is Evan Schoenberger, who studies piano, marimba and percussion. Evan is a 10th-grade student at Mercersburg Academy, son of Kevin and Kelly Schoenberger, Mercersburg, Pa.
