Hagerstown Community College's Continuing Education and Community Services Division is offering a seminar titled, "Medical Emergency in the Dental Office," on Friday, May 20, from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., in the Elliott Center on HCC's main campus.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast. A series of sessions and workshops will follow including: "The High Risk and Medically Comprised Patient," at 8:30 a.m.; "Drugs, Gas and other Medications," at 10:15 a.m.; "Emergency Preparedness for the Dental Office," at 12:45 p.m.; and "Dental Team Approach to Medical Emergencies," at 2:30 p.m. A question and answer session will be held from 4 to 4:15 p.m. at which time certificates will be awarded to attendees.
Guest speaker will be Harvey Levy, who is in private practice at Dr. Harvey Levy and Associates in Frederick, Md., where he and his partners specialize in family dental care, especially for individuals with medical, mental, or physical special needs. Levy also serves on the dental advisory board at HCC and his practice frequently serves as an externship site for students in the dental assisting program.
Professional continuing education credits are available to Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia dental professionals through HCC. Fee is $144.
Fee includes continental breakfast, six Continuing Education Units of credit and a certificate of attendance.
