Palmer honored by local chapter of IAAP

Diana Palmer has been named 2011 Administrative Professional of the Year by the Hager Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Palmer became a member of IAAP two years ago and immediately became involved with the Hager Chapter. She is active on many committees, and was selected by enumerating points acquired through IAAP service and educational activities.

Palmer has worked at Washington County Hospital, now Meritus Medical Center, for more than 28 years.

Her executive, Penny Hill, and husband were in attendance to share in the celebration.

Today, there are more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants working in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, and 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles. More than 475,000 administrative professionals are employed in Canada. Millions more administrative professionals work in offices all over the world.

The IAAP is a not-for-profit professional association with approximately 28,000 members and affiliates, and nearly 600 chapters worldwide, with a local chapter in Hagerstown. IAAP works in partnership with employers to promote professional excellence.
