The youth of Haven Lutheran Church will host a fun, family-friendly social event Saturday at 6:30 p.m.,
Anyone who loves to laugh will not want to miss Extravaganza 2011. The community is invited to come and enjoy a dish of ice cream while being entertained by the Haven Lutheran youth group.
There will also be items available for a silent auction, including gift baskets, a quilt, original watercolor painting and NASCAR collectors’ items.
Proceeds will help support the youth mission trip to West Virginia in June. Seating is limited. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets cost $4 for adults and $2 for those younger than 12.

Mother’s Day buffet
Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 will host a Mother’s Day buffet Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The menu includes turkey and dressing, ham with raisin sauce, fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, assorted desserts, coffee and tea. The public is invited. The Legion post is on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 held its weekly meeting April 25. Those members who weighed in lost a total of 23 1/4 pounds. The top “loser” was Edna J. with 5 pounds. Julia S. was runner-up. Edna won the Git-R-Done prize.
Eileen R. led a discussion on the booklet “Stress Management.” She said everyone has to deal with stress in their life, some good and some bad. We all experience stress differently, and we all cope with it differently. The idea is to develop positive and healthful coping strategies, including ways to cope that leave physical health and correct weight intact.
Moms Club to meet
The Moms Club of Hagerstown North will meet Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church on South Potomac Street. For more information, go to www.momsclub.org.
Relay for Life of Washington County will hold its Spring Fling Quarter Paddle Auction Sunday, May 15, at Western Enterprise fire hall, 526 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the auction starts at 2 p.m.
Admission costs $5 and includes the first paddle. Additional paddles (up to three) will be available for $4 each or three for $10. The minimum bid will be 25 cents and the maximum bid will be $1.
Food will be available for sale. No outside food will be allowed.
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Community concert planned at church
The community is invited to attend a concert given by Back Creek Valley Boys Bluegrass Gospel Singers Sunday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Church, 14336 Greencastle Pike (Md. 63 north.)
Refreshments will be served. A goodwill offering will be collected for the group during a short intermission.
If you would like to make a contribution to the cemetery maintenance fund, a basket will be placed in the front of the church.
The chapter welcomed to new member, Carol E., and Jean, a visitor.
Marie was the thinner winner, followed by C.K. Darlene won the Ha-Ha prize.
Zeesil presented a program on self-esteem and Mary continued the discussion on “Enthusiasm.”
On Wednesday, Maryland TOPS state king Herbert Walker will be the guest speaker.
