COLLEGE BASEBALL

HCC 4-1, Harford 3-4

Tyler Walsh singled in pinch runner Kyle Crist with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Hagerstown Community College beat Harford (37-9) in the first game of a doubleheader split.

Chris Kulik and Justin Martinez had two hits each and Jordan Thurber pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to pick up the win for the Hawks (30-19), who reached the 30-win mark for the eighth straight season.

Martinez and Thurber had two hits each for the Hawks in the second game.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Paul Hvozdovic had five strikeouts as Shepherd University lost  to Pitt-Johnstown (17-22, 13-12) in the opener of a WVIAC doubleheader sweep.

Morgan Lautz had three hits for the Rams (12-20, 7-16) in the second game.

HCC 1-9, Harford 0-7

BEL AIR, Md. — Mallory Wishard drove home Amanda Lizama with the winning run as Hagerstown Community College shut out Harford in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.

Katie Kesecker pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Damara McDonough had two hits, including a two-run single that keyed a six-run ninth.

Kesecker had two doubles and three RBIs and Lizama had two doubles for the Hawks (12-11, 11-7).

VIENNA, W.Va. — Bianca Biondillo had a solo homer and an RBI, but Shepherd was eliminated from the West Virginia Conference tournament.

The Rams finished the season with a 32-15 mark, recording the most wins in program history.



PREP BASEBALL

Goretti 4, SW Edgecombe 3

TARBORO, N.C. — Connor Grimsley had two hits to lead St. Maria Goretti past Southwest Edgecombe in the Tarboro Tournament, breaking the Gaels 13-game losing streak in the event.

Grimsley was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Zach Martin and J.C. Munson each went 3-for-4, Ryan Harper had two hits and three RBIs and Levi Mellott added two hits for Southern Fulton (2-7).

Matt Timoney had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Sam Rodgers, Chris Beyers and Lorenzo Vazquez had two hits each for the Blue Storm (12-3).

ST. JAMES — Tiffany Younker had two doubles and Emily Harvey pitched a one-hitter to lead Hancock in a three-inning shutout of Saint James in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.

In the nightcap, Harvey and Jessica Martin had two hits each and Sara Wagner had a double for the Panthers in the three-inning rout.

Ashley Leslie scored the lone run for the Saints (0-4).

BOYS LACROSSE

Saint James 16, South Hagerstown 4

ST. JAMES — Jamie Peterson had four goals and three assists and Ryan Doyle added three goals as Saint James routed South Hagerstown.

Andrew Ludwick had two goals and three assists, Hal Smith had a goal and two assists and Layton Younger, Mason Redmond, John Stephens, Kyle Neale, Kevin McCormack and Ben Louderback each added a single goal for the Saints.

Will Smith made four saves.

Saint James 17, St. Andrews 7

ST. JAMES — Ryan Doyle had five goals and two assists, while Andrew Ludwick and Ben Louderback each scored three goals for Saint James in a Mid Atlantic Conference win over St. Andrews.

Ludwick also had four assists, while Jamie Peterson had a goal and six assists for the Saints (9-5, 4-2). Hal Smith had two goals, Kevin McCormack had a goal and an assist and Layton Younger and Kyle Neale each scored a goal.

Tommy Wagner made five saves for the winners.



GIRLS LACROSSE

Hun School 18, Mercersburg Academy 8

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Kathleen O’Malley had three goals for Mercersburg Academy in a loss to Hun School.

Shelley LaMotte and Nina McIntosh had two goals each and Jordan Shihadeh rounded out the scoring for the Blue Storm.
