Williamsport walks off with victory over Clear Spring

PREP BASEBALL

WILLIAMSPORT — Will Bowen drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Williamsport a 6-5 win over Clear Spring in an MVAL Antietam game on Friday.

Zach Lucas had two hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBIs for the Wildcats (10-4, 9-3). Connor Arnone and Tyson Cline each had two hits for the Wildcats.

Nick Hill had two hits for the Blazers.

Earlier in the day, Williamsport beat Clear Spring 24-14 in the completion of a game that was suspended on April 6.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Greencastle’s batters couldn’t solve Northern’s Vince Apicella, who shut out the Blue Devils while striking out 12 and walking three.

NEWVILLE, Pa. — James Buchanan used a four-run seventh inning to earn a Mid-Penn Colonial victory against Big Spring.

Tyler Forshey homered and drove in three runs, Sam Wingert also had three RBIs and Jonathan Glass had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockets (4-9, 3-7).

McLEAN, Va. — Jordan Shihadeh led Mercersburg with five goals in the Blue Storm’s loss to Madeira.

Shelley LaMotte had two goals, while Hanna Warfield and Woodli Krutek each had one. Syd Godbey made 16 saves.

Brunswick 12, S. Hagerstown 2

Heather Callahan and Michaela Brewer each scored a goal for South Hagerstown in an MVAL Antietam loss to Brunswick.

Lexi Turano had an assist and Lindsey Beall had nine saves for the Rebels (0-7).

On Thursday, South Hagerstown lost to Middletown, 18-1. Courtney Jenkins scored the lone goal for South.

MEN’S GOLF

HCC’s Weber places second

OAKLAND, Md. — Hagerstown Community College’s Zach Weber earned first-team all-conference honors at the 2011 Maryland JuCo Conference Tournament at Oakland Golf Club on Thursday, shooting an 8-over 79.

Tyler Logan (College of Southern Marryland) earned individual honors by shooting a 78 and Harford Community College earned team honors with a 334.

Catonsville 7-5, HCC 2-4

Brittany Larrick went 2-for-3 in both games, but Hagerstown Community College lost in both ends of a Maryland JuCo doubleheader against Catonsville.

Larrick and Mallory Wishard homered and Amanda Lizama had two hits in the first game for the Hawks (10-11, 9-7).
