Illegal immigrant tuition decision was a poor one

To the editor:

The Maryland legislature never ceases to amaze me. They have passed a law allowing illegal immigrants in this country to receive in-state tuition at Maryland community colleges, and at our colleges and universities. I wonder: What part of "illegal immigrant" do they not understand? These people are not supposed to be in our country, much less getting deals on our education system.

If I were a legal immigrant who came to this country, steam would be coming from my ears. What an insult.

Not to mention that reduced, in-state tuition is supplemented by us, the taxpayers.

It is my understanding that a petition is being created to bring this issue to referendum. I, for one, will be signing that petition, and I invite all of you to sign it. Let the people of Maryland make the decision as to whether illegal immigrants get in-state tuition or not.
