WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Renfrew Institute’s Earth Celebration Day, Festival of Art, and Recycle/Reuse Yard Sale event on Saturday, April 30, has been relocated to the grassy lawn area in front of Waynesboro Area Middle School, bordering along Second Street.
Renfrew Park was flooded by the heavy rains Thursday night when Antietam Creek overflowed its banks. The ground is too soaked to allow the event to be held in the park, the institute announced in a news release Friday.
“Using the grassy area by the middle school allows us to keep the event outdoors in the beautiful weather predicted for Saturday,” said Melodie Anderson-Smith, executive director of Renfrew Institute. “So while we are disappointed not to use our regular ‘home’ for our Earth Day event, we are pleased to be able to stay outdoors in the sunshine.”
The electronics recycling and personal shredding offered in conjunction with the event will take place where originally scheduled — in the Washington Township office parking lot off Welty Road.
Parking will be available in the middle school parking lot.
