David C. Carbaugh Jr., 72

David Clemon Carbaugh Jr., DC to many, 72, previously of Hagerstown, Md., and most recently of Shallotte, N.C., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Brunswick Community Hospital in Supply, N.C., after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late David C. Carbaugh Sr. and Ethel C. Carbaugh. He attended Hagerstown High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17, where he served for 13 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Carbaugh of Shallotte; son, Robert K. Carbaugh and wife, Karen, of Chambersburg, Pa.; daughter, Janey Clymer and husband, Butch, of Moorehead City, N.C.; sisters, Linda Carbaugh Poffenberger and her husband, William, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Ellen Carbaugh Shindler of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Heather Hessong and Holley Miller and their husbands, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only grandson, David L. Carbaugh.

Dave was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Shallotte and his local Neighborhood Community Watch.

He loved his dog, Blondie, fishing and being with close friends. He loved his family dearly and would always go the extra mile for a friend.

He was employed by various companies throughout the South as a tool and dye maker until his retirement.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 30, at the church in Shallotte.
