April 28, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — A submarine sandwich shop based on the New Jersey Shore has made Hagerstown the site of its fourth franchise in Maryland, according to a news release from the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

Jersey Mike's Subs will open next week in the Shoppes at Hagerstown shopping center near Best Buy and Chipotle.

The franchise's owners, Patrick and Elizabeth Provost, will celebrate the opening with a five-day fundraiser to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County, the release said.

Starting May 4 and continuing through May 8, anyone with one of the more than 10,000 fundraising coupons being distributed throughout the community for the event will receive a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution, the release said.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission, the release said.

The Provosts have always felt it was important to assist organizations that support the youth in their community, the release said.

"We look forward to doing even more community outreach in Hagerstown," Patrick Provost said in the release.

Elizabeth Provost said that their family was originally from Maryland but has lived the past 19 years in Maine, according to the release.

Jersey Mike's will be open on Garland Groh Boulevard daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
