MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — One person was killed Wednesday morning and four others were taken to hospitals as the result of a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 81 near the 18-mile marker about two miles north of Martinsburg, according to West Virginia State Police.
The accident, which was reported at 11:13 a.m., involved a Toyota SUV and a Buick station wagon, according to a state police news release, which said Trooper Z.L. Nine investigated the crash.
The driver of the SUV was taken to Martinsburg City Hospital and three passengers from the SUV were flown to Fairfax Inova Hospital, state police said.
It appears the driver of the Buick was killed.
"The next of kin are currently being located and upon contact the information for the driver of the Buick will be released," state police said in the release.
