Cascade Elementary School named its Good Citizens of the month for March at a March 17 celebration.

The students honored were:

  • Kindergarten — Collin Pennington and Eliana Gil
  • First grade — Annsley Fulgham and Nicholas Gruhler
  • Second grade — Carrie Krietz and Jordan Stallings
  • Third grade — Christopher Richards and Logan Fishack
  • Fourth grade — Ricky Moser and Sherry Baugher
  • Fifth grade — Bradley McKenzie

The school wants to extend its thanks to all who participated in the Gertrude Hawk Chocolates fundraiser. The school earned about $2,000 as a result of the fundraiser, which will assist with final activities.

TOPS 0462

Smithsburg TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0462 kept on rolling with another week of weight losses. The thinner winner was Lisa with a 4.5-pound loss, followed closely by Lola with a 4-pound loss.

Lisa is halfway to her goal weight, and Sally is within 5 pounds of her personal goal weight. This week's losses averaged more then 1 pound per person.

Mary will lead the program this week on "You Can Cheat on Your Diet, and Still Reach Your Goal."
