Mrs. Madeline Ruth Brown, 99, of Sabillasville, died Saturday, April 23, at her residence.
 
She was the wife of the late Karl Martin Brown.

Born Aug. 2, 1911, in Garfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy Elmer and Lillian Brown Lewis.

Mrs. Brown had been employed as a seamstress with Claire Frock for 30 years.

She was a member and volunteer at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Sabillasville. She enjoyed reading, loved to sew and making clothes for her daughter and nieces.

Surviving is a daughter, June Harbaugh, and husband, John S. Harbaugh Sr., of Bellevue, Wash.; four grandchildren, John S. Harbaugh Jr. and wife, Karen, of Auburn, Wash., Joseph K. Harbaugh and wife, Penny, of Reston, Wash., and Gordon L. Brown and Karen Haines, and John R.E. Brown and wife, Brenda, all of Sabillasville; four great-grandchildren, Derek Harbaugh of Auburn, Daniel Harbaugh of Reston, and Karl W. Brown and Ethan Haines, both of Sabillasville; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Brown of Sabillasville. Many nieces, nephews and in-laws also survive.  

She was preceded in death by two sons, Karl Bob Brown and Jackie M. Brown; and four sisters, including Dorothy Willard.

Mrs. Brown is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, where friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Janet Comings, officiating. Interment will be in Brown’s Cemetery, Foxville.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Brown to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 17015 Sabillasville Road, Sabillasville, MD 21780 or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
