GOP, Democratic political dinners planned

The major political parties in Washington County are holding their annual dinners next month.

The first will be Washington County Republican Central Committee’s annual Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner on May 10.

It will be at Cortland Mansion, north of Hagerstown, with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. and a program at 7:30 p.m.

U.S. Rep. Steve King of Iowa will be the guest speaker.

Blaine Young, president of the Frederick County (Md.) Commissioners, also will speak.

Tickets cost $50 each and can be obtained through May 1. Go to for more information.

The Washington County Democratic Central Committee is holding its annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on May 19.

U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland will be the keynote speaker.

The dinner will be at the Boonsboro American Legion, with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
