Noise complaint leads to 20 citations for alcohol possession

April 25, 2011

CLEAR SPRING — A Saturday morning noise complaint near Clear Spring led the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to charge 19 adults younger than 21 and a juvenile with possession of alcoholic beverages.

The citations issued in the 12:15 a.m. incident at 12482 Harvey Road had not been delivered to District Court as of Monday afternoon, a court official said.

Deputies went to the house after receiving the noise complaint and found a large number of people to the rear of the home, police said. Many of those present were younger than 21 and in possession of alcohol, police said.

A computer-aided dispatch list of the names of people at the house was read over the phone by a sergeant with the sheriff’s office, although it listed 18 adults younger than 21, two teenagers younger than 18 and three people older than 21.

About two-thirds of those named on the dispatch list were males.

The press release issued by the sheriff’s office Saturday said the case was under investigation to determine if any adult will be charged with furnishing alcohol to people younger than 21.

The names of the individuals on the list are not being published because information from the citations about the exact charges against each was not available Monday.
