Washington Co. students to recycle phone books

Washington County elementary and middle schools are  participating in the third annual Telephone Directory Recycling Challenge.

Participating schools are collecting old phone books now through April 29, Anthony Drury, recycling coordinator for the Washington County Solid Waste Department, said in a news release.

The top six schools will receive a cash donation for school supplies, the release said. Schools will be ranked based on directories collected per student population ratio.

The cash donations are compliments of Grosh’s Lawn Service, EZToUse.com, and the Washington County Teachers Federal Credit Union, the release said.
 
The cash donations will be given out to schools as follows: first place, $400; second place, $250; third place, $185; fourth place, $100; fifth place, $90; and sixth place, $50.
