Children's program planned at museum

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will host its Spring Culture Festival for children Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will include games, entertainment and crafts, including silhouette cutting and bullet carving, along with a magic show by Frank Culler at 2 p.m.

Telethon set at mall

The 22nd annual Parent-Child Telethon to help prevent child abuse will be held at Valley Mall Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. near the Food Court.

Book club event  

The Lora Leigh Romance Book Club will host a book club gathering Saturday, April 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Country Inn & Suites near Valley Mall.


The topic for the day will be the Breeds Series. A potluck dinner is planned, Those who attend are asked to provide a covered dish.

Bark for Life

Bark for Life, will be Sunday May 1, at 2 p.m. at Fairgrounds Park in Hagerstown.

The Williamsport High School Blue Band’s Relay for Life team will have a Bark and Bake Sale at this event, which will include goodies for dogs and their owners.

The event will include a blessing of the animals, dog walk, demonstrations, contests, drawings, vendors and fundraisers.

Registration costs $15 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog if registering by April 25. After that date, registration will cost $20 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog. The registration fee includes a dog scarf and other giveaways.

Sponsors are needed to support the walk. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Blue Band yard sale

The fourth annual Yard Sale Extravaganza to benefit the Williamsport High School Blue Band will be Saturday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the football field at the high School. The event will be held rain or shine.

In addition to the yard sale,  the event will include a bake sale and concessions. Donations of yard sale items (no electronics or clothing, please) are still being accepted.
