The Hagerstown Police Department was looking for the driver of a green Jeep who didn’t stop after the vehicle struck a utility pole Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Key Avenue, Officer W.D. Oates said.

Police were waiting for Hagerstown’s City Light workers to fix the severed utility pole and to repair a downed wire that fell as a result of the accident.

Oates said witnesses told police that after the Jeep struck the pole the driver continued heading north on Key Avenue.

The downed wire is along the curb, off the roadway. Traffic is able to pass through, but vehicles are being directed to move slowly through the area.
