Harold Richard Strite, 90, of Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Home, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born Tuesday, July 20, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Amos W. Strite and the late Gladys B. Shafer Strite.
He was a farmer and later worked at several supermarkets. He was also a member of Mount Olive Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Retha M. Hege Strite of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Pa.; three daughters, Lucille E. Strite, Eleanor J. Strite Martin and Darlene W. Strite, all of Hagerstown; two sons, Calvin E. Strite of Hagerstown and Richard D. Strite of Mattoon, Ill.; two sisters, Miriam Eby and Esther Showalter, both of Chambersburg; brother, Glenn Strite of Maugansville, Md.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, C. Merle Strite, Walter Strite and Amos Strite Jr.; and two grandchildren, Sheldon Strite and Gary Strite.
Family will receive friends at Mount Olive Mennonite Church, 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, and also from 9 to 10 a.m. before the service.
Services will be Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. from Mount Olive Mennonite Church, 13305 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740, with the church ministry officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olive Mennonite Church Cemetery, Maugansville.
