April 17, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — Three public hearings related to changes in county rates and fees are scheduled Tuesday during the Washington County Board of County Commissioners’ meeting.

— At 3 p.m., citizens may comment on the county’s proposal for a series of new and modified plan review fees for services such as stormwater management concept reviews and grading plan reviews.

— At 3:15 p.m., citizens may comment on proposed changes to the county’s landfill user fees. The proposed changes include a $5 increase in the cost of a landfill permit, among other changes.

— At 3:30 p.m., citizens may comment on proposed rate increases for county water and sewer customers. The rate hike would mean a $4.80 increase in the typical quarterly water bill, from $137 to $141, and a $5.02 increase in the typical quarterly sewer bill, from $126 to $131.

The changes would take effect July 1.

Further information is available on the county website at www.washco-md.net.

The public hearings will be in the commissioners’ meeting room on the second floor of the County Administration Building at 100 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown.
