GREENCASTLE, Pa. — If you live in Greencastle and have been wondering where your water-sewer bill is, your wait will be over this week.

Because of problems with the transition of the borough’s new accounting/billing system, bills originally scheduled to be mailed on March 31 are expected to go out early this week, Borough Manager Kenneth Womack wrote in a release.

“We want to be sure, to the best of our ability, that the new billing system correctly reflects the customer’s information and that water and sewer charges are accurately applied,” Womack said in his release.

The borough will adjust due dates and penalty dates, because of the delay in sending out the bills. Payment will be due on Friday, May 13. Bills not paid by May 13 will incur the normal 5 percent penalty. Bills not paid by May 31 will also incur the additional 10 percent penalty and be subject to a notification of termination if not paid by June 2.

Meters will be read on the normal meter reading dates, and the amount now due represents the usual first quarter billing period.

“We apologize for this delay in getting the bills out and any inconvenience it causes our customers,” Womack said. “If the delayed billing and the adjusted payment dates result in a hardship for customers, they are asked to contact the borough office at 717-597-7143, before the bill is due, to make payment arrangements.”

For more information, call the Borough of Office at 717-597-7143.
