Williamsport slides into first place in MVAL Antietam

PREP BASEBALL

WILLIAMSPORT — Williamsport only had four hits but made the most of them in an 8-6 MVAL Antietam victory over previously unbeaten Catoctin on Friday.

Will Bowen had two hits and scored two runs for the Wildcats (6-2, 5-1), while Connor Arnone and Tyler Nally each had two RBIs and Nick Sauble scored two runs.

Andrew Weaver, Austin Carter and R.J. Smith each hit a home run for the Cougars (4-1, 3-1).

BLAIRSTOWN, N.J. — Christian Binford was at it again, pitching a complete-game two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Mercersburg Academy past Blair Academy in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League.

Binford has not given up an earned run in 24 innings this season.

John Olszewski had two hits, including a solo home run in the sixth, for the Blue Storm. Lorenzo Vazquez also had a solo homer in the first and Chris Beyers had two hits for the Blue Storm (9-1, 3-1).

BOONSBORO — Haley Payne pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Boonsboro in a six-inning rout of South Hagerstown in the MVAL Antietam.

Payne helped her own cause with three hits, including a three-run homer and a double, and finished with four RBIs for Boonsboro. Amber Myers had three hits, Amber Welch had two hits and a double and Nikki Reeder had two hits for the Warriors (4-4).
